Reliability of Existing Concrete Structures during Fire – the Case Study of Concrete Slabs Subjected to Chloride Induced Corrosion

The assessment of the reliability of concrete structures during fire is becoming increasingly important due to the emergence of performance based design codes, the increased interest in decision making with respect to life time optimization of infrastructure, and the direct applicability of reliability calculations for insurance purposes. Most recent studies on the topic of the probabilistic calculation of structures during fire have been focusing on a specific design situation with a specific load configuration, or are explicitly or implicitly concerned with serviceability limit states and give no indication of the structural reliability in the ultimate limit state at the fire resistance time tR (e.g. [1]-[3]).
